Erik Stam is Full Professor of Strategy, Organization & Entrepreneurship at the Utrecht University School of Economics, and leader of the Utrecht University Centre for Global Challenges (UGlobe) flagship initiative “Entrepreneurship-led Sustainable Development in Africa”.
He is also an Extraordinary Professor of Economics at Stellenbosch University (South Africa). He is a leading scholar of entrepreneurial ecosystems, engaged in the science and practice of entrepreneurship-led development, both locally and globally.
He has (co-)authored more than a hundred books, book chapters, and articles on this and related topics. Next to his scientific work he is often consulted by governments, at the local, regional, national, and international levels (European Commission, OECD, G20, World Bank), and by start-ups, investors and corporates on innovation and entrepreneurship.
