Mandla Ncgongwane is a renowned South African director, producer, actor, musician and entrepreneur, who is also recognised as a member of the music group Gang of Instrumentals. Mandla has always known that he wants to be a trailblazing TV producer and director who tells authentic South African stories that people can relate to.
After completing his studies at AFDA, he and a fellow graduate started Black Brain Pictures. An award-winning creative content production agency, with interests in Film and Television, Technology, Marketing and Advertising. Over the past 20 years, his name and his production agency have become synonymous with creating dynamic, captivating and award-wining drama series, films, and commercials.
Mandla is also passionate about opening up the film and television industry to be more inclusive. And, throughout his career he has made it his business to transfer his skills by grooming and mentoring the next generation of professional actors, directors, and producers.
To date, he and his company have received over 26 South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAs) for his comedies, drama shows and films as well as two Promax awards for his work on commercials as well as a Lorie Award. Even though it’s been almost two decades since the start of his career, Mandla N remains as passionate as ever about telling one of kind South Africa stories.
